I was brought up in a christian home and accepted Christ at a very early age. I am not married and sometimes get caught up in sexual relationships. I have prayed and tried to stop this and seem to succeed for a while but I always seem to fall again. Please pray for me as sometimes I question whether I am really a christian if I continue to fall into these practices.

Carol,
We all fall short of the glory at times but God allows us to seek his word and his promises. Ask God to guard your heart and mind. You may also want to surround yourself around a Church that offers ministries for singles. Reach out for God and his ways as you come against the attacks. I used to be a major drug dealer 11 years ago and I COULD NEVER ALLOW GOD TO BREAK THE ROOT OF MY PROBLEMS. I finally gave up and surrended my life to the Lord. The Bible says: 7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:4-7 I also had to change may enviroment and press in to things of God.12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.Hebrews 4:12. You may what to 10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:10-17. I stand in agreement and ask the Lord to minister to your heart and bring strength to your inner spirit. May he intercede for every pray your bring him. I pray by faith, that all things will balance more in your life, for the service and glory of the Lord. Amen! God sees your heart, and he wants you to know, he will never forsake or leave you. You have made a big step in speaking out to the Lord. My prayers are with you! 22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 John Trevino |

Hi Carol,
I agree with John about changing your environment. If you have not already done so, I think one of the best things someone in your situation can do aside from praying and spending time with Jesus Christ, is change some things that lead you to temptation. This will be different for everyone. There are few of us that will not get tangled in sin if we allow ourselves to be in situations where temptation will flourish. You have to fight sin with all the resources you have been given. We can never fully avoid temptation completely and will have to face it head on with the protection of Jesus Christ. However, what can be changed to help shift the trend you are in? Think about your social life, your Church life, and what you do with your free time. Are you allowing yourself to have the support you need to not give into temptation much less avoid the temptation in the first place? Second, it’s not just what you ARE doing but what you are NOT doing to give your self the support you need that stems from Jesus Christ. Are you reading our instruction book to life (The Bible) often? Are you fellowshipping with believers? Carol these questions are not just for you but for all of us. We all have sin in our life and have to strive to be more like Jesus. Be encouraged! God wants you to continue to run the race. (Hebrews 12:1-6) 1Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. 4You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; 5and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD,NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM; 6FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES." Your brother in Christ, Shawn |
