Pray for my son that he will do better in reading. He has problem with comprehension/language skilss and struggles in school. Pray God would give him the wisdom and help him. Pray for peace in this household as he probably will bring home a failing grade in reading.

I pray favor over your son for his health, courage, strength and guidance. May the Lord give him the knowledge and wisdom to over come these challenges. God sees his heart and wants him to seek him for every thing. I am staying in agreement with you and your son for victory over the circumstances.
In Jesus Name! Amen! 22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 John Trevino |

Melissa, there is a non profit organazation that may help your son. RFB&D-Recording for the blind and Dyslexic. The wed address is www.rfbdtexas.org - they may be able to help you with funding to pay for a membership. They may also know where your son can get tested for reading disorders. He is not dumb, he may just not see the letters the way we do or the words may just get mixed up.

Melissa, As a teacher of reading disabilities I feel for you and for your son. Reading difficulties will not only affect his Reading class, it will affect all other classes due to the need to comprehend what is read in all classes. Our Father, please stand with Melissa and her son and give them patience as Melissa's son struggles to learn to read, comprehend what he is reading and retain it. Lord, give Melissa's son the strength to not give up when he is frustrated, keep trying, and keep faith in You that there is and end to his weakness in reading. Let his education strengthen with his trials in reading and keep him from getting discouraged and losing interest in school. In His Name, Amen. Melissa, do not be afraid to have your son tested for a reading disability. Some parents fear the label, but with proper instruction, he can overcome his disability and learn the tools needed to complete school to his best ability.

Melissa, My prayers are with you and your son. My personal belief is that reading is the single most important you can learn. Those skills will be with you every day of your life. If it turns out that your son has no disabilities that affect his reading skills I would suggest that you read to him - frequently. And after you read a page, let him read it back to you. And go back to the basics. Can he sound out each and every letter of the alphabet. Can he sound out words using phonics? Does he know how to pronounce combined letters like "con" and "ed" and "ing" and "th", etc. Make it fun. Read good comic books if you have to (The Classics come to mind). Read the funny stories/jokes in Reader's Digest. Read the church bulletin. Read a local comunity newsletter with news about something he is interested in.

Thank you for your prayers. His grades have improved. He came home with a C which is wonderful almost a B. Teachers at school have been much helpful and reading has increased in this household and so have self esteem in my son and gladness and thankfulness in my heart. Cont. those prayers.
