I am having a very difficult time coping with some things that have recently happened with my 32 year old son. He has been using drugs (marijuana and crystal meth.) for a number of years. He has destroyed his family, his job, everything...because of his addiction. He has been in three treatment facilities over the past 10 years. The last one was a 30 day rehab. treatment this past January. His father and I have tried to help him every way that we could. Sometimes I think we have helped too much, especially financially, over the past few years. At this point, he is not speaking to either his father or me and is very bitter. Even though we have completely supported him (house payment, utilities, groceries, etc., etc., since last November (six months)and had custody of his two little girls ages two and four since August, 2004, (both he and his wife were on crystal meth. at that time and so strung out they didn't know which end was up most of the time) he seems to think that we are the enemies now. His wife has been in a rehab program for the past nine months and is doing great. She now has the two little girls back and seems to have her life in order. I cannot say that for my son. I have ushered up so many fervant prayers for him. In September, 2004, he shared with us that he had a life changing experience with God, and we were so encouraged by his sharing the experience with us, but he never was willing to commit to attending church or to baptism or to even going to a Bible study with us. I covet your prayers in this matter. It is beyond my understanding as to why he has turned his back on the ones who have tried to love him and help him. I know that Steve has gone through some of the same things with his daughter, Stacey. I have emailed him in the past and we have exchanged "war stories" about our circumstances. Please remember us in your prayers. God has promised that he will hear our prayers when we call. I know that everything is going to work out for our good in some way, because we do love the Lord and we are called according to His purpose. It is just so difficult to be hated by your own child when all you want to do is love him. I specificially need prayers for comfort and peace...for the hurt to be taken away or for grace to bear the hurt through this awful experience. I know there are others out there who are experiencing the same thing we are going through. If there is anything that we can do to lessen your pain, please let us know. Thank you so very much.

My prayers are with your family, son and grandchildren. May the love of Jesus touch your son's heart. I pray that he may turn from the chains that bind him. Not to be a hypocrite I must admit that I also have chains that bind me but I know that through his love we can walk away and follow him. I have been around people that have addictions to drugs a lot. No disrespect but I know that the financial support that you are supplying him with just supports him to get more drugs to support the habit. Sometimes people must fall flat on their faces before they seek the truth of God and his help. O Lord I pray that something can impact glindatb’s son to turn to your truth and love and that this families relationships can be healed. I know that anything is possible through you and you tell us that if we ask we shall receive if it is in your will. In Jesus name Amen.

Dear loveable parents,

Let me first start off by saying, PRAISE GOD for you. Continue on being the prayer warriors that you are. The power is in prayer. As a daughter of a mother who use drugs, let me say that as much as it may hurt, as much as it may feel like "why my world", God is taking you through such a strengthening process to not only become closer to him but to know what strength he has given you. He is building a ministry already within you. You are right in saying there are so many people out there that are going through the same thing, you are not alone. Someone asked me today, why is it that the closer you are to Christ the more your faith is tested than others. As I explain to this individual that it is not God that tests your faith, it is the enemy that comes into your life to do three things: KILL, STEAL, and DESTROY! It is up to us to give in to what the enemy wants or for us to know that through whatever storm that may come our way that God is greater than any storm or hurricane. He will supply all of our needs and our hearts desires if we trust him and believe that he is in control of all situations whether we like it or not.

I said all that to say, please continue to keep your eye on God, he is definitely keeping an eye on you and your family. The enemy will use the nearest and dearest person to you to hurt you or to make you want to give up, but remember that this situation is bigger than what you and your husband can do and has done. Your son will see that there is such a love affair between you and Christ that since the seed is planted...and we all know that all you need to do is plant the seed.....now its your time to sit back and allow God to nourish, water and make the seed grow. Believe me, it may not be today, tomorrow, or next week, but your son will give his life to christ but it will be a day that God had already preordained through your fervent prayers.

One last thing, I would not be where I am today, if my grandmother wasn't on her knees everynight praying for me because of my mom situation. Your grandkids are watching you, even though their parents have taken them on a roller coaster ride, but your strength and your prayers has already saved them from going down that path in the future. God is so awesome. I thank him for using you as a vessel in their eyes. I thank him for touching your heart, spirit and soul. You are a beautiful person, you are not mean, you are a woman of Christ and your worth is way more than rubies, and when you feel discouraged I want you to remember that GOD HAS A PURPOSE AND PLAN FOR YOU. YOU ARE A DESIGNER's ORGINIAL There is no other like you. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL PREVAIL - YOUR FATHER ALREADY SAID SO!.........

Stay encourage, if you ever need to talk, I am here. You are in my prayers.

Your sister,

Nicole

Thank you Marcbc and Nicole for your replies to my prayer request about my family and my precious son. It helps to know that I am being lifted up to Jesus by others. Keep us in your prayers. My son's name is Sean. I know that God is working to make us what He wants us to be and sometimes that means going "through the fire" to accomplish His purposes.

I admire your perseverence in faith. I'm believing some things for my wayward son. I love the stories in Acts 16 I believe where Paul and Silas were in prison praising God, and praying out loud when suddenly the prison shook and the doors all opened. The horrified jailer was worried the prisoners would escape and he was going to kill himself because he would get punished by death for letting prisoners escape. Paul said to not kill himself but no one would escape. He then expounded the gospel and the jailer fell on his knees and asked what he must do to be saved. His wife and family were cleaning their wounds then Jesus said."Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved and your whole household. The other story is about Lydia, the seller of Purple who believed in Christ and she was saved with her household. Think of the old test story of how Rahab the harlot believed the prophets of God and helped them escape being captured by the men in her village by hiding them on her roof. She acted in faith and the prophets offered her devine protection from God's coming wrath on the city. She asked them if they would also save her household and they said yes her whole house even her aunts and uncles. There are many other examples in the word where God saves whole families because of the initial faith of one. Of course our family has to come to a personal faith but I believe God goes all out to make that easier and help them see his glory and grace. You and your family are in my prayers.

Hi Glenda,
You are a blessing to your family and to us. I'm forever your brother after reading your post. What an example to live up to!
I admire your faith and determination. Endure all the way and God, "who sees in secret", will reward you abundantly. Be comforted by the examples of Job, Daniel, Jeremiah, the Apostles and JESUS. Sometimes, we don't know why certain things happen to us but God knows everything and works for the good in all things, especially for people who love Him and trust in Him.
As for Sean, I pray that on the day our Heavenly Father has determined, he will wake up from his nightmare and exclaim, as Nebuchadnezzar did: "I am delighted to tell you about the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done for me." (Dan 4:2) And also "But at the end of the appointed time I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up toward heaven, and my sanity returned to me. I extolled the Most High, and I praised and glorified the One who lives forever. For His authority is an everlasting authority, and His kingdom extends from one generation to the next." (Dan 4:34)
We'll pray earnestly for your family.
