At the beginning of every day, I ask God to give me direction, and let me know I am doing His will. I end every day wondering.
I have been very active in my church for many years, and have listened to many people tell about praying to God for guidance, and receiving a vision of Jesus, or of hearing God's voice speak to them. I haven't experienced either. I envy them. I have always wondered if God is speaking to me and I just don't know how to listen. I have been very successful in my personal and business life, but I often wonder if I'm doing what God wants. I just don't know for sure. I have never asked others to pray for me. I'm not really sure what I'm asking now. |

skp,
The wondering is not coming from God's "non answer"...it is coming from satan who is trying to mess with you...he is casting out doubts and you are biting. I've been there, many, many times, my dear friend! We are just simple humans and let the 'fluff' get in our way sometimes! I will be praying for you. Meantime, please seek peace in the following scriptures...it's what I do! Your Sister in Christ, Brenda Be Still, and Know That I Am God Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. 2 Chronicles 20:14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; 15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. 16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. Psalms 4:3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. 4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. |

Skp and Brenda
Brenda tanks for the Scripture that you shared. I think often we rely on ourselves or others to guide us instead of God Himself. I believe in order to hear from Him we need to be totaly at His feet. Trusting in Him alone. I know I do this often. Sometimes we don't wait on Him, sometimes we are discouraged and lack faith. God has been dealing with me concerning appling my faith. Believing He is God no matter what happens, He will do what He says, He is faithful. We are His children and can do all things through Him who strengtens us. We have to trust God in all things that He is working a good work in us. He will never leave us never forsake us. So whatever we are going through He is with us. I ask your prayer for my home church that has had years of conflicts. I love each person dearly that comes through the doors. My prayer is God would bind the evil that binds us. This has been one of my burdens. Pray for God's direction in my life and that I will obey and trust Him. |

I was reminded last night that God can speak anyway He chooses. He can use Scripture, people, circumstances, creation through the Holy Spirit. I am reminded that we need to be still and know He is God. There is nothing he cannot do. He is faithful.

Brenda and Melissa - Thank you for your encouraging posts.
Melissa I will say a prayer for your Church today. Skp - Remember that God's primary method of speaking to Christians today is NOT through an audible voice or through visions. Most faithful Christians will never hear God in those ways today. Of course God reserves the right to speak in any manner He wants, but try to focus on His voice that is already there for the taken. Examples: (Holy Spirit, Word of God) God is honored by your morning prayer. He hears every one. When you pray, pray humbly without reservations of your own, knowing that He is in control and wants to work everything to the good in your life. Through your trials and your successes, He wants to mature you and give you a peace that passes all understanding. The Holy Spirit will be your guide. The Holy Spirit is one of the primary ways God encourages you to follow Him. You will understand the Holy Spirit in you more as you continue to grow, pray, and read God's Word. God's greatest infallible voice to Christians today is the Holy Bible. This is God's wonderful voice for you. There is enough Truth in there to answer any questions you have about your life as well as encouragement to faithfully follow Christ. God can use many ways to reveal Himself to you, but I want to encourage you to see His voice through these means. Remember to test everything against the Word of God and be in humble prayer about His purpose for your life. He will guide you in His timing through this method. I will be praying for you. We pray out of obedience as Jesus calls to us to pray for one another. There is no more of a reason we need to pray or to ask for prayer than that. We KNOW that God uses prayer in our life through His sovereignty. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Shawn T., Your brother in Christ, Shawn |
