My sister meet a guy in Jamiaca from New York a week ago and she is traveling to NYC to see this guy. My mom is trying to talk my sister out of going and they are agreeing about it. My mom is concern about the safety of my sister. Please pray that she change her mind about going to New York and that she turn to the Lord instead of man. Also, pray that my mom approach my sister in the right spirit.

I don't know what your concerns are concerning this guy but I will stand in agreement with you that your sister remains safe & that she accepts the Lord into her heart & he becomes her savior. I also pray that if your sister decides to pursue a relationship with this guy that they go about it the right way (no sex b4 marriage). You did not say that there was anything wrong with him & I am not prejudiced & I am all about the happiness of all of God's children & God did say that it is not fit for us to be alone. If it winds up that your sister moves to NYC to marry him then I know you will miss her. But I don't know if it is right for you to not want her to go just so you will remain happy, what about her happiness? Yes always pray for the safty of your sister I know That New York is a dangerous place (my brother lives there & was a few blocks away during 9-11) but you can get into trouble anywhere & most auto accidents happen within 2 miles of your home. However if the guy is bad news then by all means do what you can to warn her; but remember that we all have to make our own mistakes. Nobody wants to hear advice that tells them not to follow their bliss. So give it out of a heart of love & not condemmnation - it might be recieved with a better spirit. Just remember that God is everywhere & he will be with her even if you are not. Bassically I pray that God's will (not yours) comes to pass in this situation.

From Reading Slade posting maybe I did not make it clear. My sister met this gentle less than a week ago and she is planning on going from California to New York. I do not know the gentlemen in question and he might be a great guy; however, after meeting someone and traveling from one coast to the next is a little disheartened for my family.

I am praying for my sister as well as the guy involved.

I understand that it may be close to impossible for them to know each other very well as they only met a short time ago (that's why I used the term "follow their bliss") - what I don't understand is the precise reasons why you don't want her to go.(I am guessing that you think she is making a bad decsision, but everyone thought that Noah was making a bad decision when he was building a boat, & Orpah thought that Ruth made a bad decision when she stuck with Naomi) I assume we are talking about a grown woman capable of making her own decisions. I don't know if love at first sight is a reality or a myth, but I do know that love between 2 people is a special & valuable thing that almost everybody is looking for (myself included) & sometimes you gotta risk a lot to get your hands on some & sometimes it may not work out; however sometimes the rewards are well worth the risk. I heard it said it is better to have loved & lost than to never have loved at all. I personally have put it all on the line for love & been wrong - but at the time it seemed like I had no other option but to go down the road I was on & see where it lead to (so I think I understand where your sister is comming from). If she has a personal relationship with God then she could or should pray & ask him if he is the right man for her. The hard thing is if God says no, to not pursue a relationship anyway as sometimes we feel like we are the captians of our own destiny.
