hope that you are all fine, Since joining this website, i have been trying to follow a cretain patern, Bible reading, more caring and loving, to all around me.
but my reason for writing is because i want to find out about these two things, cuz i have not yet found a church where i can freely discuss anything. could someone guide me on the issue of fasting, i want to know the importance and how to go about it. things like how long can one fast, if water can be taken while doing so. secondly ,i over heard people talking about destiny, they said it can never be changed. I know God's sets one's destiny, but how much can one intervine in someone else's life and try and change things and if that is possible? when you see that there is potential. Actually there are three things, the issue of cursing, how can one break a curse that has be put on them, from the little i know, the bible says the mouth is a very powerful tool. things have been said to me and my siblings, things like how we are good for nothing, how others told us that we were mistakes and never met to be, cuz our mother was a black sheep of the family so what ever she gave birth to was condemned. last but not the least, just wanted to say thank you to Tjgeorge for the reply, God bless you. I look froward to the replies, cuz i really want to learn. |

Hello MWape,
May God bless you in your walk with Christ. I will pray you will find a church where you are able to grow as a disciple of Jesus. I pray too these comments will assist you in some way: 1. Fasting: Here is a website that provides a comprehensive guide to prayer and fasting. You are smart to inquire about this and to make sure you are approaching fasting in the way God intends us to do so. When I was a very young Christian, I was not so wise. I fasted for two days, not eating food NOR drinking water. This was a foolish mistake. We need water to stay alive. At the end of day two, I was emaciated and my co-workers asked me if I was feeling ok. I went home and was shocked to see my face in a mirror. My eyes were sunken into my face and I was very pale. This should help you: http://www.billbright.com/howtofast/ 2. Predestination: You are likely familiar these scriptures on this topic: John 1:12-13 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Romans 8:28-30 28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Ephesians 1:4-6 4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 2 Timothy 2:19 19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. What these scriptures tell me is that God has chosen us. He knew us before we were born. It is hard for us to comprehend this type of knowledge and perhaps our mere words cannot fully describe the concept of predentination as we use that term versus how God's concept of predestination is. Now to your question: Should we intervene in situations or other peoples lives knowing that God has already set our "destiny". My answer is absolutely yes. In the "Great Commission", Jesus says the following: Matthew 28:18-28 18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. We are to go forward and teach those who will listen, help those who are in need, and serve those who are in our midst. God's plan for another person's life just might include you going forward in His Name, extending the hand of love to those you are prompted to help. 3. Break a curse: The cruelty of ungodliness knows no end or limits. Those who would hurt us with their tongue are driven in various sinful pursuits: jealously, revenge, pride, or just plain mean spirits. The mouth is very power tool, in fact, it is the strongest muscle in our body. The enemy wants to destroy those who love the Lord Jesus. He hates you MWape. Plain and simple. We don't have to listen to him. It is that simple but sometimes not easy. Years and years of hate leveled on us take their toll. The evil one gets us to believe that maybe we are what he wants to believe we are. Since his powers are limited, playing with our feelings and how we see ourselves is sometimes all he has to work with. We become captives to his lies. Consider these scriptures: John 8:32 32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Luke 4:18 18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, MWape, the truth shall make us free. I love the word "shall". God doesn't mean maybe, or sometimes, or perhaps. He means "shall". He will set us free through His Word. We are to read His Word daily. Memorize it, pray about it, surround your life around His Word and His Commandments. You love for Jesus Christ will break the power of the enemy regardless of what he may throw at you. As we are taught in James, as we submit ourselves to God, we will have the power to resist the devil and his lies in our lives. We resist the evil one and he will run from us. The "curse" of the lie will run as well. James 4:6-8 6But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. So, stand tall. You are a child of the King! Amen? It doesn't get any better than that! Nick P. |
