This seems so trivial but has been a major source of anxiety. My job is in jeopardy and I feel that I have been a terrible witness. From all I can tell, my bosses are unbelievers and I hoped to draw them to Christ. Now they see me as a poor performer. They think I misled them about my skills. Lord knows I did not. In fact, I feel they misled me about the position and I have accepted it as humbly as possible. My desire is that the Lord would work in some mighty way, some undeniably miraculous way to turn this situation around so that they see Christ. I care far, far less about maintaining employment than I do about being a positive example. I also lack motivation, now that I realize they consider me so ineffective. Thank you for letting me vent. I have raised this up to the Lord as well.

Sean,

It is encouraging to know that you have placed a high importance on being a good witness and sharing the love of Christ at your work. I encourage you my brother to continue to let God know that through prayer and He will honor your request. Often times the dynamics of a work environment makes it easy to get distracted from your responsibility to witness. Our witness becomes watered down because we struggle with being good in the business world and being the person God wants us to be. Not all the time but much of the time companies and work environments support being a person of success versus being a person of integrity and value.

It might be difficult to see how you can make a big impact at your job after all that has happened, but often times the small things you do or do not do will have impacts on people long after you every see them again. I pray that God will give you wisdom as to what things you can do or not do big or small at your work in order to set an example of Christ’s love.

Your brother in Christ,

Shawn

Sean,

I can relate to how you feel about your witness to your fellow employees and also about the possibility of your losing your job. Your wanting to preserve your witness over and above your employment is a sign of character and maturity. Eventually the Lord will make it clear as to whether you will retain your job, though you may never know in this world, what effect your witness has been. I believe you can be certain that God has had you there for a particular purpose and possibly for a particular person.

Recently, I saw a lady I had worked with in an office environment that was not always favorable towards me. She asked if I remembered her. We had had a lot of fun together – how could I forget when I felt as though God had answered my prayers and had placed her there just for me! She then said – “Well I remember you! And your birthday is — ! I was so surprised! She then went on to tell me what an impact I had had on her spiritually. What a blessing that was for me to hear! It was as though I had received a “kiss” from my Lord.

Sean, I believe your heart is to work as unto the Lord and if your present employment is not where He wants you or where you can be an effective witness, know that whatever job you have, He is working that desire in your heart for His good purpose.

God bless you!

Chelki

Exodus 34:6

Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;"

"Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!" -- Jesus, the Messiah!, our salvation.

Heavenly Father,
I come to you standing in agreement with all my brothers and sistrs in Christ. I ask that we are all witness to the unbelivers. Master, at some point somoene else had to witness to us or we would not be where we are today in our Christian walk. Master, I ask that every one that cross our path see you in us. Lord, I ask that you touch Sean employers and that your will be done in this situation immediately. Master, you said if we touch and agree you
would be in the midst. We ask these precious things in your glorious and rightous name. Amen.

Thank you, Shawn, Chelki, and Tanya--and everyone else--for your prayers. I have a sense of peace about this now and, when I reflect on all God has done in the past, have no fear. Am meeting tomorrow about 2pm central time with my bosses and hr to sort through this. My prayer now is that I can adequately prepare to avoid any surprises and to establish clarity for the future.

Wow, this was a little over a year ago! For anyone with interest, here is how it worked out: The next morning, after an embarrassing scolding in front of clients, I resigned and went home. Three weeks later, my wife's employer eliminated her position, on the spot (she is an outstanding employee, truly remarkable). We have since moved about 400 miles away, closer to our families and now live about a 1-hour drive from the hospital treating our niece who was diagnosed with leukemia last week. I vaguely see God's hand in this!

Sean, I will pray for your niece that she has a quick recovery from the treatments. How are things with you and your wife? Have you found new employment? Are you happier now that you have moved? I will pray for your family! In God's Name, Amen.
