The world wide web has so much information. I thank God for the creation of computer and the internet. Although, sometime it can be a little to much information for me, but for the next person they may find the information useful.
Dear God, Thank you for your many creations. Amen For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 ~Amazed By His Grace~ ~Tanya~ |

The web site that you have noted is the product of the World Wide Church of God. This demonination has a very troubled past and up until several years ago, was considered by most evangelical Christians to be a cult. They denied the trinity, amoung other things and were known for henious abuses to the emotional and financial lives of its members.
The denomination is going through a seemingly good transition under new leadership. However, some will testify that the transititon is more of a change in the "business plan" meant to prop up the financial base of the organization through paid for public relations. Even with the new "wallpaper", those who view their web site and consider their teachings should do so with extreme caution, especially if they are not fully grounded in sound Biblical doctrine. I would recommend NOT consulting the World Wide Church of God for guidance or advice on questions of Biblical teaching, especially those "sticky" questions. Especially those. Nick P. |

Serenity,
Honestly I did not take a look at the web site. I was just commenting on the World Wide Web as a whole. The Internet has so much information, a lot of times I past a lot of stuff up. I guess with school and all the research I have to do for that I really do not just surf on the net. But thanks are to God for freedom to choice which sites you would like to view. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 ~Amazed By His Grace~ ~Tanya~ |

Dear Serenity and Tanya,
It is indeed a blessing to have the freedom to choose what information to assist us in growing in Christ. Perhaps like no other time in history have believers been so blessed by such a wide breadth of information on the internet from which to learn. However, there are snares in the form of false doctrines in place to trap believers into paths that create a peril to our faith and walk in Christ. It has always been so. A believer who is sound in doctrine will likely recognize the false doctrines but one who is new to the faith will not. This is how cults form. We are reminded of the snares that come with choice in 2 Timothy: 2 Timothy 4 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. In Matthew, Jesus says this: Matthew 24 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. We are warned that in the last days, iniquity or conterfeiting of God's Word will be everywhere and many will be deceived because they cannot tell the difference. So, the aspect of a wide choice of material to read is a blessing but also a huge potential trap for us and those with whom we share our faith. We must be vigilant for those who would "tickle our ears". God Bless you both. Nick P. [This message was edited by Nick P. on December 19, 2003 at 05:02 PM.] |

Hi Nick and Tanya,
Thankyou once again for your replies and there is so much on the web for research etc...We can even have virtual churches...Nick u r right there is deceptions. Of course we need to know the word and that is why we have the Bible, we also have the Holy Spirit and he helps us to discern. Your concern about this church and how they have hurt people in the past is commendable.... However I came across an article of repentence for them...Yes our churches are imperfect as we are, however when we and our Churches admit wrong doing, reassess and do a 360 degree turn about with their doctrines etc...ask everyone for their forgiveness then we need to forgive them....especially when they make it public...here is the article "Forgive us our tresspasses" http://www.wcg.org/lit/AboutUs/media/forgive.htm It is also important for our churches to be accountable, and that is why we need to pray. I know myself I have been led astray by false beliefs and doctrines, honestly Christianity then felt like a prison a curse...Now because of God's gift of Grace through Faith Christianity feels like a Celebration, a Joy Life, not death or a funeral service. This church as u commented on Nick, did some terrible stuff years ago and now they are involved in restitution and are asking Forgiveness of everyone. They recognised their shortcommings and are taking steps to do something about it. Wouldn't it be great if all churches did this instead of hide it or deny it. I have read a lot of the articles on that site, some are really Good and spot on, there are some I don't agree with because of where I stand with Christ at present, I would have gone deeper and I praise God for God's discerning Spirit within. Some I haven't read at all because there is so many and these days are tired up with prayer work and correction process. However it still has been a very useful website for me and has helped me to do what needed to be done for Christ. And no I am not compelled to Join that Church just because I read the articles. It may not be for you, however it may be the answer someone on here is looking for. All articles have Biblical references that can be checked, so they do use God's word. Nick I accept your thoughts about this and yes we do have to be wary of false teachers but not to the point that we be unforgiving when they repent and right the wrongs. Jesus summed up the Law in one word, Love and we are to be as wise as serpent, but gentle as doves. love and blessings in the Lord, Serenity |
