I overlooked your post before, sorry about that. I am sorry that you have had such a bad time of family problems and especially that you were so hurt by the actions of brothers and sisters in your church. I'm glad that you haven't let that make you give up on church entirely. I will pray for you to be led by God to a good bible based church where the word is taught and the believers have love for one another and you can heal and grow and be encouraged. I will e mail you too.

Am so sorry to hear about your problem. Sometimes I console myself that"my problem is not bigger than another I know not of. So Thank U Lord". You are not alone, God cares all about you and it's good you still have the yearning to be with him and know him more by reading the bible. I thought I was alone in this problem. I have always wanted to read the bible and enjoy it but it is still a problem. I still feel I dont have a good relationship with God. I now believe many a christian want to read the bible and enjoy it but fail to understand some verses.
How can we be like: Steve T. or John Trevino or Pax or T2 who seem to know the bible so well? It means whenever they open to read it, they understand it and indeed enjoy it otherwise they would not bring lots of references from the bible. It's amazing that even while in church, you may not understand when the bible is being read. Yet you prayed that your heart, mind and whole being may be open while the word is being read. Ms.RLSLB13 I would definately want to be your bible study buddy. Even though we have the reading plans here I guess it would be helpful to have a bible study. Just like I said earlier, STEVE TROXEL, personally, it would be more helpful & meaningful I guess, if a small reference/reading for the day is put at the end of your daily word. I think it is even easier than clicking to a different page then look for the reading for the day. That's my opinion really. It may be too much for you but pleeeeease give it a thought. RLSLB13, keep your fingers crossed, one day you will understand the bible more that you have ever. My mother told me that one priest told her, "We(the priests) read the bible more than you do, but we can never claim we know every bit that is in the bible." As for us, the army is ready to battle but the victory belongs to the lord. GOD BLESS. |

I think you are well on the path of understanding more so than you think. You won't understand everything at once but gradually. The word says that faith and knowledge is aquired from faith to faith and gradually we add virture, then knowledge and on and on till we come into being more like Jesus. I haven't attained all yet. I'm still conforming to his image till the day of Christ's return. It takes effort on our part which includes obeying the commands of scripture that you do understand such as helping the poor or something like that. As you walk in obedience you will understand more. God reveals more to us as we mature. Make sure you are rooted and grounded in the basics of salvation the very basic fundamentals in the gospels first. Then begin to build upon that. The holy spirit that lives in you since being born again will lead you into all truth as it says in John's gospel. |

Praise the Lord!
I feels go to be back the board and to see everyone in fellowship. This encourages me even more! The Knowledge of the Word is our future! If life in paradise appeals to you, let nothing hold us back from gaining the knowledge of God. He loves mankind and will bring about the changes needed to make the earth a paradise. After all, if we had the power to end the misery and injustice so prevalent in the world, would we not do so? Would we expect God to do less? Acually the Bible speaks in vivid terms of a time when God will remove the strife-ridden system and replace it with a perfect, righteous rule.( Daniel 2:44) But the Bible does much more than tell us about all of this. It shows us how we can surve into God's promised new world._2 Peter 3:13; 1 John 2:17. I give God all the praise and glory for disciples that what to learn together. We are all vessels of His Word. We don't have to worry about people that don't acknowledge God's Kingdom but we come together in prayer for all souls. Count Me In!!!!!!!! May the Lord bless every soul that ministers here on the message board. John Trevino |

Praise God for you - i have full faith in 1 Jn 2:27 that says that the Holy Ghost will teach you; as was said it takes time - our relationship with the Lord is a journey & it all starts with a single step. My suggestion is to underline or write down the verses you come accross that affect you personally as you go through your studies. There are so many different techniques for studying the bible - i will give you some of my favorites:
1) Make sure you read the whole thing: Keep a bookmark in your bible & whatever page you left off at - when you go back make sure to start at the top left hand corner. 2) Look up any word or phrase that you don't understand, along with most if not all the names: If we glance over something that be barely understand in english; we have close to 0% chance of knowing what it meant in hebrew or greek to the people it was written too; so takeing personal possesion of a hebrew & greek dictionary set would be very wise; Also almost all the names in the bible have definitions that add depth to the stories. 3) While acknoledging that it was written to people who already lived & died, also understandoing that it was written to us here & now. Understanding the customs of the people who lived back then helps to understand cirtain passages but there are central truths that do not erode with time that can be applied to our lives. A Pastor told me that the 66 books of the bible are loveletters from God to us. 4) (This should be #1) Pray, pray, pray! Develop a relationship with the author of the book so He can tell you what it means. Understand that God can tell 2 different people 2 different things with the same scripture & they can both be correct (Sometimes like how 2+2=4 & 3+1=4). I almost never check my email but if u got a ? post it on this fourm & i will give u any scriptures i think may help. "The more you know, the more you should realize how much you have to learn" Slade "God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you" (1 Sam 12:23) "let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified" (70 Ps 4) All scriptures are King James (Authorized) Version unless otherwise noted http://willbf.yolasite.com/ |
