The bible says that, blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly, or that standeth in the way of the sinners, and sitteth in the seat of the scournful. So does that mean we cant walk with or hang out with our ungodly friends. Does that mean that we can stand in a crowd that have people who are sinners. Does that mean that we can not go to the movie theaters where people that is scournful have sat before us. Does that mean that our whole life we have to be near people that don't sin nor go against the bible. HELP ME I AM CONFUSEd

Jesus said "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Mt 5:14-16)
Jesus prayed in Jn 17:14-18 "I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world." - So He sends us into the world but we are not of the world. The bible says in Rom 12:1-2,21 - "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." 1 Jn 4:4-6 says "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error." Just keep reading the bible & it will tell you how to deal with every situation. "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (1 Cor 10:13). The bible says in 1 Cor 15:33 (ASV) "Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals." so I would beware of having "ungodly friends". The scripture says Rom 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" & 1 Cor 6:9-11 "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." & Rom 11:20 "Be not highminded, but fear" - we were all in the same boat as any "sinner" so just because we were fortunate enough to get an introduction to Jesus doesn't mean we should be prideful, thinking we are better than people who didn't - but rather we should make it our business to introduce as many people to Jesus as we can to let them share in our salvation. Look at Jn 3:16 - it says that God so loved the whole world - not just you & me. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mk 16:15). The verse you mentioned mentioned counsel - look at Isa 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." - Jesus is our counsellor & as long as we listen to Him we will not be walking in the counsel of the ungodly. Look at Jn 14:6 - "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." - so because Jesus is the way if we follow Him we will not be standing in the way of sinners. Look at Heb 4:16 - "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." & Eph 5:2 - "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." so as long as we obey these scriptures we will not be sitting in the seat of the scornful.
