it has been 23 years ago when I was going through a tough time in my life, shortly after my husband of 10 years had left for work and I had laid back down to rest, about 7 am, I heard a large vocie from no where tell me everything would be okay, he had left me and would be with me till the end of time. I hide my head under the covers wanting it to go away, I was very scared. This voice has haunted me for years, I try to live life God's way, but how many other people have heard this voice? This episode made me a true beliver, but I am afraid to speak of it

Please do not be afraid to speak of this; rather, share your testimony with great humility and give all glory to God. Though it is not usual for God to speak in this manner, we must never limit God to what we can understand. He is the God Who created the entire Universe out of nothing - if He desires to speak to us with an audible voice, He certainly can!

Donna,
At my church several months ago we had a discussion on how God speaks to us. Some people said through songs, others said they would be lead by the spirit to certain verses in the word and others said through confirmation or by other people. I left thinking how does God speak too me. And the spirit led me to my dreams. God speaks to me through my dreams (like Joseph) and at first I thought something was wrong with me. But I am learning to love when he speaks to me, it does not matter to me if he wants to scream, yell, come gently, in my dreams however I just want him to speak to me. Glory to God. Enjoy that he is speaking to you, it is a lot of people would love to say God spoke to me. I have a friend who is struggling with that very same thing right now. He says he can not tell when it is God speaking to him. I admire you and so many others would to. You have a special relationship with the Father. God Bless you and next time talk back with him. That is the only way relationships are built by conversation.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Don't be fearful but be honored. When I was a new christian, I had a few days of being mad at God for not answering a trivial prayer and while washing dishes of all things, I heard a man's soft voice speak audiblly, say my name then say "I am disappointed in you". I imediatedly knew it was God referring to the incident I got mad at God about. I then repented because I knew that I was wrong. That has never happened again. He spoke audibly to Samuel the prophet as a young child and he didn't know it was God the first two times he heard his name spoken while in bed. He got up twice and asked the king what he wanted. The third time, Samuel knew it was God. God gave him a message to tell the king.

Thank you for your words of support - I have just finished reading the recent book in the Left Behind Series (having read all the others) and with the greed and evil in this world in this present day I think the end is near. I had always been afraid to speak of the incident when I heard his voice, but am feeling more compelled to try to turn people to him

Hi Donna,

I have heard a Man's voice yell my name and it startled me as I was alone and crying....I soon stopped crying. At the time my son's father had left me and so I was really distraught. Since then God speaks to me through the Holy Spirit, I have been given passages from scriptures, one word at different times, through songs being sung in my head to different problems I have been having, like Let it Be, Ain't no mountain High enough; also through my writing (poetry, stories, songs etc...) and ideas. Also I had a vision in a dream where my neighbour touched my heart, she is a masseuse, I then saw the brightest white light. It was so pure. I came through the light and I was at the Cross and saw Christ being crucified on the Cross, I will never forget his face and the intense suffering, I looked right into his face. I felt in the dream that I was being given a confirmation of the suffering I had been through was as the suffering that Jesus felt on the Cross and that I was being invited to come to the Cross. I woke up because it freaked me out in my dream, then I was so disappointed because I just wanted to be back with Christ and back asleep. I kept saying over and over it's true, it's true.

I agree with you we are going through the end times...My son has been given dreams from God, when he was 8 he was rebelling and giving my a hard time about wanting to learn about God/Christ/Holy Spirit so I asked for him to reveal his truth to Dylan. He showed Dylan what would happen to him if he didn't believe and follow him. In the dream Dylan told me he was around 20 and he saw many people going into a fire. He also said that there was 3 stars in a row and when he saw these he would know that the time was approaching. My son also has seen a Golden light near our Cross on the wall. Dylan has described what Christ look like in his dream and it sounded like the Christ I saw in my dream.

I have tried to tell people about our dreams, however we get met with disbelief at times and how do you know it was from God type thing, also some have questioned me about the Cross, since I now wear a cross around my neck, I have ever since that dream. I really feel that God gave me the Gift of the Cross.

Also God helped me stop a storm once, I was talking to Dylan about Faith and he wouldn't believe, so I said that God could help us stop a storm...He didn't believe me, so when I read out of the Bible Jesus' words, within 5 minutes of starting the storm stopped.

God has also been silent with us at different times, it is then I feel frustrated and alone. However recently have felt an invitation to come into the Body of Christ, so I feel happy about that and know that we will be led where we will fit into that body....

So I guess it comes down to faith, belief, love and willingness and most of all his Grace that he speaks to us in so many ways. What a blessing it is when he chooses to communicate in a unique way just right for us....

Praise God,

Amen,

Love and blessings in the Lord,

Serenity...

There have been many times that I said that God talked to me; but hindsight being 20/20 I know that some of those times it was probably not, but rather my own heart or some more sinister voice - the main way we can tell if God talks to us is by studying the scriptures - because nothing God gives us in a Rhema word will contradict his written word. When I was a child I had an experience similar to donna taub; I was in a church & while the singing was going on a stack of angels came flying into the room & they were dancing around touching ppl; then after a little while God & Jesus also flew into the room & like the angels were flying around it & touching ppl too. Next thing I know the whole room dissapears & everything fades to white; the angels were gone, & the church was gone & the only thing I could see was God on his throne & Jesus on his right side. As I floated up closer to the Lord's presence God told me: "You see how Jesus is on my right hand side? You are going to be like that." Now I don't share that with everyone because everyone isn't able to recieve it. It sounds to me & a few others on this board that God really did talk to you so:
1) Take comfort! (Take comfort because if so many people think that God did speak to you the chances are he very well may have)
2) Draw closer to the Lord (The only way you will fulfill the scripture that says "My sheep know my voice; another shepherd they will not follow" is if you get closer to God than 2 peas in a pod)

Just remember that no matter how mamy people say that God has spoken to you doesn't mean that he did; & no matter how many people say that he didn't doesn't mean that you didn't - just walk circumspectly - or tread carefully - devote time to the study of God's word - because everyone should agree that God did speak to you & everyone else through the Bible so if we want to know the mind of Christ & the will of God we have a reference point that will let us know the important parts & if there is something that you can't find the topic in the bible I bet any much that there is a biblical principle that would apply itself to the situation; because as Jesus said it was not so much the behavior that the law was written to correct; but peoples attitudes.

dtr98 asked "how do you know if if is really god speaking to you or you are just thinking it yourself?" That's a good question - I will repeat - the best way to know is if it agrees with the scripture look at Isa 8:20 - I know it is out of context but it says that if they speak not according to this word, it is beacuase there is no light in them. Ok, so if that isn't good enough look at Rom 3:4 - that one says "let God be true; but every man a liar" & one more for good measure - 2 Tim 3:15-17. There is another passage I might as well bring up in Deut 6:4-9 - look at verse 8 it says to have God's words be as frontlets before thine eyes. If you ever heard of the term "rose colored glasses" then just try to imagine having "God colored glasses" if you see reality through the lense of the scripture then for one thing your problems & circumstances won't bother you as much. And for another thing, you will be ready to judge every voice you hear, be it from within or without, by the plumbline of the scripture; wich is the best way to go.
