I feel within me a call of God although I am not sure of it. Many times, I think I am imagining it. Notwithstanding, I am afraid to go into ministry because of a deep-seated fear of poverty. I imagine that serving God is synonymous with poverty. I know this is totally wrong.

I also have a confession, at the back of my mind, I do not think God will do as the Word says until I see the thing I have asked for happening. This is inspite having been a believer for 18 years and seeing His miracles so many times, people being healed of AIDS, sickness, miraculous provision etc.

I also know the Word says if a person asks God and does not believe that he has received is like looking into the mirror...

What would you say is the problem?

Self doubt is pervasive at times to all who enter the ministry. Ask any pastor, missionary, or lay person who enters ministry work and they will testify of their bouts with doubtful and questioning thoughts of what they are doing. Some time ago, I came upon the text of a sermon that discussed this very thing, referencing Jeremiah's doubts of himself in Jeremiah 20: 7-18. I will not try to paraphrase it, but hope you find value in reading it.

The article is brilliant! It does talk to me a lot about what I have been going through and has opened my mind to a whole new approach to what I feel about God.

This is ofcourse very different to what we are taught from an early age, not to question God. I think many people ought to know about this article.
