ISAIAH
Isaiah 6:4-5 Part 2 of 2 In light of Isaiah's call to be a prophet to Judah - The Israelites had failed to continue the work God had begun in them. Deuteronomy 26:18-19 "And the LORD has today declared you to be His people, a treasured possession, as He promised you, and that you should keep all His commandments; and that He shall set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise, fame, and honor; and that you shall be a consecrated people to the LORD your God, as He has spoken." As followers of Jesus we, too, are to put off the "old self" and become a "new creation" for His praise and honor. Colossians 3:9-10 "Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him" We, too, are chosen of God. To become a servant of the Lord, Paul speaks of the qualities we are to exemplify – Colossians 3:12-17 "And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." Let us never cease to praise the Lord. And let the Word of God dwell in us richly to become servants of the Most High God! Let us be ones to help the blind to see the salvation of our God! |
