ISAIAH

Isaiah 21:11-17

quote:
"The oracle concerning Edom. One keeps calling to me from Seir, "Watchman, how far gone is the night? Watchman, how far gone is the night?" 12 The watchman says, "Morning comes but also night. If you would inquire, inquire; Come back again." 13 The oracle about Arabia. In the thickets of Arabia you must spend the night, O caravans of Dedanites. 14 Bring water for the thirsty, O inhabitants of the land of Tema, meet the fugitive with bread. 15 For they have fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow and from the press of battle. 16 For thus the Lord said to me, "In a year, as a hired man would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will terminate; 17 and the remainder of the number of bowmen, the mighty men of the sons of Kedar, will be few; for the LORD God of Israel has spoken."

In a vision Isaiah hears voices calling to him from Seir. As in a city that sleeps, the watcher of the night would be the only one awake. In his vision Isaiah stood on guard during the night, alone as a watchman.

The cry of a suffering people could be heard, asking how much of the night had passed. Isaiah's answer is there will be a morning with its saving light to those who take refuge in the Lord. But a night of destruction will fall upon any who refused to do so. The Edomites had to repent if they were to receive the light of morning. The shortness of the prophecy is an indication of the rejection of this offer to Edom. Edom was finally destroyed and it became a perpetual "Dumah" (a word used for Edom in other translations), meaning "stillness", which became a sign of Edom's fate.

The darkness of night would extend even to Arabia. Dedan was a region in Arabia, and its caravans were probably simply ordinary traveling caravans, such as those common in the Arabian desert. When an invading army came to occupy the land, it would be necessary for the caravans which belonged to the Dedanin to travel off the regular routes, if they wished to proceed in safety. There was protection in the desert for them, since the inhabitants of Teima would not only bring water, but bread to these travelers, who had become fugitives fleeing in fear for their lives.

Isaiah first mentions the tribe of Dedanin, then Kedar, a tribe whose members descended from Ishmael, indicating that the destruction would be widespread. The message is sad, because for Kedar there is no hope and night will overshadow the land. The precise fulfillment of this prophecy is difficult to determine as Assyria grew more and more in power while Edom and Arabia declined.

Light came to Judah when the Son of God appeared upon the earth. At that time there was a morning for Edom, but it was not recognized. Herod the Idumean, rather than seeing the morning light, sought to kill all the children of Bethlehem two years old and under. In the following years Edom and Arabia were cast aside until finally the darkness of Islam covered the Arabian peninsula. There was no doubt that it would come to pass, as the mouth of the Lord had spoken.

Our eyes, too, can be blinded to the morning light present in Jesus, the Son of God.

2 Corinthians 4:4,6
"in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ... 6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."

If we refuse to repent, viewing His commandments as burdensome and restrictive, we will miss the opportunity for salvation and blessing that comes from believing in Him and following in His steps. That day of opportunity might last only a short period of time. Quoting Isaiah 49:8 Paul says in 2 Corinthians 6:2
"..."at the acceptable time I listened to you, and on the day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is "the acceptable time," behold, now is "the day of salvation"--

But only if we would take heed to: http://net.bible.org/verse.php?search=Deut.%204:9&book=deut&chapter=4&verse=9

Salvation: http://net.bible.org/bible.php?book=1Pe&chapter=1#10

But the difference with me now is that I must believe in the context of each saying that has come out the mouth of my saviour/Yeshua Ha Moshiah/Jesus Christ of Nazareth for my salvation to be Study to shew thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth of his kingdom in heaven/ kingdom in heaven, Daniel 2:1-44. esp. in verses 18-44. ....... is at hand: KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and soon to be in Jerusalem if interested.

People may ask, what do Salvation have to do with them being a child of God? well! without taking heed to the very sayings of our Lord Jesus Christ, he alone has been given all power in heaven and on earth by these scriptures and more:
