ISAIAH
Isaiah 6:3

quote:
"And one called out to another and said, "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory."

The seraphs continually chant the Lord's praises, in what appears to be antiphonal singing crying out one to another, "Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh" (Holy, Holy, Holy). In their song of praise the seraphim declare the distinguishing characteristic of God, His holiness. Their hearts burst forth in praise of Him. The repetition of "holy" is a means of expressing the superlative. Holiness signifies the divine perfection that infinitely separates God from His creation. Also included in the word holy is the thought of separation from what is sinful. He is the Lord, and not a man and exists from and in complete independence from all of His creation.

As stated in Dr. Michael P.V. Barrett's book The Beauty of Holiness, "He is wholly holy; He is unique; He is like nothing else. ... This superlative declaration ascribes to the Lord His intrinsic worth, marking Him as the only legitimate object of worship."

John 12:41 unequivocally identified Jesus as the One Isaiah saw in this vision and the Scripture never uses the Lord's Name YHVH for anyone but the one true God. That Jesus is Deity is the essential theological import of this text.

The entire creation, not merely the whole earth, is His glory. In the universe we behold His glory, His perfection and His attributes. Wherever we turn we see the evidence of His majesty. Our greatest service to Him is to be found in praising His hallowed Name. To worship is to stand amazed in His Presence. It includes deep meditation upon God and His attributes and living a life of humility in accordance with the instructions given in His Word. It is living a life of faith in Jesus, lived for the glory of God.

Psalm 72:19
"And blessed be His glorious name forever; And may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen."
