The Xarangua Enterprise web site reveals a deceptive blending of psychology new age thinking and spirituality that at a minimum mis-uses scripture to serve it's humanistic purposes or uplifting man at the expense of Christ. At it's worst, it is simply deceitful.
In Philippians 2:3, the God tells us: " Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." Then, in Matthew 22:37-39, we learn: " Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou Shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Websters Dictionary, in stating the definition for "self-esteem" states the first synonym for the word to be "pride". Pride is at the root meaning of the self-esteem movement that is invading the Christian world in our lifetime. The movement to self-esteem takes us in the exact opposite direction from Christ and God's Holy Word. In our quest to find solutions to our life problems, many seek to build their self-esteem. This movement takes advantage of a persons sometimes desperate quest for answers to why they "feel" as they do. They are told if they simply feel good about themselves, they will be happier and more fulfilled. Backed up by artfully chosen scripture, the teachers of the self-esteem programs build their flock. Rather than build up our selves, God would have us build up Christ in each of us. Only then, will we reach the point of peace that we seek. No, brothers and sisters, we are not doormats to be used and trampled on. Neither should we walk around with heads hung low. We are to hold up our heads high as the children of Christ. That is something to be honored and feel good about. It is not self-esteem, but Christ-esteem. Nick P. |

Xaragua,
Since you are a nameless person or persons at this point (your name and or identity is discretely left off your site) I must be somewhat impersonal in my remarks. If you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior, you are indeed a brother or sister in Christ. Your error is at the base of what self love is and is not. We are all born into this world loving ourselves more than anything else. We are born as selfish persons, seeking to please only one--me, me, me. Is a two year old child difficult to deal with because he doesn't love himself enough, or because he loves himself more than anyone else? Why are so many shy about telling strangers about the Lord Jesus Christ? Well, I propose that we are shy because we inherently wnat to be "esteemed" and thus fear rejection. The self-love movement seeks to enhance selfishness in the mistaken belief that it will draw us closer to God. Holy Scripture, in it's entireity, teaches that we are to be "selfless". "Low self-esteem" is popular because it is much easier to accept the idea of having it than confessing evil ungodly thoughts and then repenting of our sin. I am persuaded that you sincerely believe in what you are doing. You are not unlike many Christian psychologists who believe that the keys to problems faced by men and women lie in their lack of self-love or esteem. This is simply not truth. Let's not talk semantics, but be guided by God's word only. I will be in prayer that God will open your eyes to His Truth and close your eyes to man's created "self-love" doctrine. Jesus reminded us of this instruction in following only Him: Mark 8:34-38: 34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. May our eyes be taken off of our selves, and stay fixed on the Lord Jesus Christ. Nick P. |
